Wilderness

As a world-leading conservation and hospitality company, Wilderness is a proud custodian of some of the most significant wild places on Earth, each chosen to be part of Wilderness’s collection for a specific purpose and all linked to protecting the land and life that exists there.

Wilderness’s destinations are vast, remote and untamed, and represent true wilderness. With access to some 2.2 million hectares (5.4 million acres) of private land, they offer intimate wildlife encounters and experiences that will leave you changed forever.

By being among the first in a place, Wilderness has access to some of Earth’s most significant wild places. Each destination offers a whole new world of environments, habitats, cultures, sights and sounds for you to discover.

Wilderness’s private game viewing areas, with caps on guest numbers, mean fewer vehicles and people, and more intimate and up-close encounters with wildlife in their natural habitat.

Wilderness’s accommodations strike the right balance of luxury and authenticity, and promise unrivalled comfort while staying true to the vibrant soul and spirit of each destination.

Mombo and Little Mombo, Okavango Delta

Arguably one of the finest wildlife destinations in Africa, and undoubtedly the best year-round game-viewing destination in Botswana. Both camps are situated just after the Okavango River splits into its primary channels. The nutrients deposited by the river make this the most fertile area in the Delta, attracting unusually high concentrations of plains game and their predators – dominated by the cats.

Both camps have private traversing rights in the legendary Moremi Game Reserve and year-round abundance of animals. When the delta floods, a natural seasonal containment of the wildlife is confined within this area. In summer the fertile plains teem with antelope and their newborns, attracting vast numbers of predators.

Mombo has 8 luxurious tents while its smaller sister camp has only 4 luxurious tents for those seeking even more solitude. Spacious suites with plunge pool. Open-air lounge areas, elegant en-suite bathrooms with outdoor showers and panoramic windows for uninterrupted wildlife viewing.

Chitabe Camp, Okavango Delta

For some three decades, Wilderness Chitabe has earned a reputation as one of the Okavango Delta’s most extraordinary safari destinations. Chitabe’s impressive diversity of habitats makes it one of Botswana’s most rewarding wildlife destinations.

The convergence of the Gomoti and Santantadibe channels create a kind of peninsula, which supports a rich, year-round game viewing paradise. Here, prides of lions, packs of wild dogs, and a remarkable cheetah population hunt the plains, with no fewer than 50 leopards recorded at Chitabe.

The 8 Chitabe guest suites offer a blend of comfort and design, perfectly suited to the temperature swings of the Delta. Featuring insulated canvas walls and roofs, as well as evaporative air coolers, they create an environment that maintains a comfortable light, airy feel.

Chitabe Lediba, Okavango Delta

Chitabe Lediba is just far enough away from big sister camp Chitabe to provide an intimate escape for small groups or families. Five tented rooms sit on raised decks, with outdoor showers offering endless views of the Okavango Delta. Here, at this Botswana safari camp, around every corner is a new opportunity for watching the daily parade of wildlife.

Chitabe Lediba sits at the heart of a large ecosystem. Together with sister camp, Chitabe, they have access to over 45,000 acres of pristine Okavango Delta wilderness.

Thrilling sightings of leopard, lion, cheetah and wild dog, drawn to diverse nearby habitats. Chitabe Lediba and Chitabe are situated on private conservation land, bordered by Moremi Game Reserve. The area’s permanent water ensures superb year-round game-viewing. This small and intimate camp, ideal for small groups, families, or those seeking a more private experience.

Vumbura Plains and Little Vumbura, Okavango Delta

Captivating Vumbura Plains and its little sister, Little Vumbura are situated in the far north of Botswana’s Okavango Delta. It is located within a 120,000 acre private wilderness area bordering the Moremi Game Reserve.

Vumbura Plains has 14 luxurious tents split up into 8 in the north camp and 6 in the south camp. It blends easily into its natural surroundings its elegantly appointed suites, elevated on wooden decking, are set along the water’s edge, each with a private viewing deck, plunge pool, sun loungers and a covered sala.

Little Vumbura (pictured) is our choice with only 6 luxurious tents for a more private and exclusive experience located on its own island away from the larger camp. Marvel at the sheer size of a buffalo herd, keep a lookout for endangered African wild dogs, and leopards staking their territories. And let’s not forget lions. Big lions that call this area of the delta home.

Qorokwe Camp, Okavango Delta

Wilderness Qorokwe is a place of striking contrasts – where the Okavango Delta’s natural beauty collides with the brutal realities of the wild. In this predator-rich landscape, lions, cheetahs and leopards move with ruthless intent, a stark reminder that nature is both magnificent and merciless.

The richness of this exquisite safari camp lies in the vibrance of its different landscapes. Rivers that reflect brooding, dramatic skies. Lush, green profusions of wildflowers. Rippling grasslands peppered with wildlife. Spend sunny days exploring the channels by mokoro.

You know you're in excellent hands at this eco-luxury safari camp in Botswana, with its commitment to local community empowerment. Qorokwe Camp has eight rooms with tented suites and indoor showers. In addition, its extra-spacious family unit has its own splash pool. The wonderful open dining and lounge area and bar are set on a raised deck, connected to the suites by walkways.

Mokete Camp, Mababe

In search for the most raw, remote, and untamed places on the planet, Wilderness discovered somewhere so wild, so abundant with life, it will leave you breathless, and a little bit emotional. In a completely untouched area, a thrilling Botswana adventure awaits at the new Wilderness Mokete located in the Mababe Depression.

Mababe serves as a natural funnel for wildlife moving between major ecosystems: the Okavango Delta to the west, Chobe National Park to the north-east, the Linyanti to the north, and the Kalahari to the south. This position concentrates animals along its edges, particularly along the wildlife-rich Khwai River forming its northern boundary.

To place you in the heart of the drama, Mokete’s forgone walls and added cantilevered canvas roofs that slide away, revealing never-ending stars. Accommodating just 18 guests in nine tents, Mokete invites intimate encounters all year.

Linyanti Tented Camp, Linyanti Wetlands

Remote, exclusive and supremely charming, the camp offers an exceptional private safari experience. Overlooking the Linyanti Marsh and floodplains, Linyanti Tented Camp is unrivalled in its privacy and remoteness.

Kings Pool, Linyanti Wetlands

Tucked away in a grove of jackalberry trees, King’s Pool is a luxurious safari camp named for Swedish royalty. This regal thatch and canvas camp, made up of eight spacious suites, a sprawling common area and eye-level hide overlooks a tranquil lagoon, attracting a diverse parade of wildlife and an impressive array of birds.

King’s Pool’s eight thatch and canvas suites have a spacious lounge and bedroom, artfully decorated with touches of copper and teal. Set on expansive raised decks near the water's edge, the common areas provide the perfect spots to settle in and watch the wildlife.

King’s Pool is situated near a critical wildlife corridor in Botswana’s 260,000+ acre Linyanti Wildlife Reserve. These wildlife corridors run across Angola, Namibia, Zambia and Botswana and are essential to the success of elephant populations across Africa.

DumaTau and Little DumaTau, Linyanti Wetlands

Wilderness DumaTau means ‘roar of the lion’ in Setswana, but to us it’s also home of the elephants. This luxury safari camp is nestled in Botswana's Linyanti, between two busy elephant corridors, with 45 km of river frontage making it an unparalleled safari destination. The game viewing is outstanding, with wildlife frequently moving through the camp.

Duma Tau’s (pictured) eight ultra-spacious tented suites, each with a private plunge pool, are raised on wooden walkways mere steps from where wildlife wanders peacefully through camp. Interiors of hand-crafted mosaic tile, acacia wood, and local textiles reflect the heart of the Linyanti, one of Botswana’s most treasured wildlife havens.

With just four supremely spacious guest suites, Little DumaTau is an inviting, intimate haven. Connected to sister camp DumaTau by elevated walkways, the camps share a spa, Safari Boutique and deli. Sink into your private plunge pool and watch the goings-on in Osprey Lagoon.

Savuti Camp, Linyanti Wetlands

Savuti means ‘mystery’ – a fitting name for this wild and unpredictable landscape that has attracted travelers and explorers for years.

Wilderness Savuti’s position within the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve makes for an exceptional Botswana safari. For an additional adventure, a two storey sleep-out deck, complete with ablutions that overlooks the Zibadianja Lagoon nearby. It’s the perfect spot to end a magical day on safari, as the calls of the wild soothe you to sleep.

Six spacious en suite tents are perfectly positioned to take in the view over the Savuti Channel, which sporadically flows past camp. Spend quiet, peaceful hours in the hide and watch the wildlife drama unfold before your eyes. The suites are raised to maximize the views over the channel, or floodplains in the dry times. The thatched dining room and common areas are decorated in earthy tones that blend seamlessly into the wild environment beyond camp.
