Great Plains Conservation

Great Plains Conservation is a conservation organization first, and a safari company second. They coined the phrase, “Conservation Tourism”. Conserving wildlife, wilderness, and communities through responsible and eco-conscience tourism. Great care has gone into the design and construction of each camp to ensure a minimal human footprint on the African landscape while promising an experience where one feels connected with nature. A safari is an investment in conservation and with Great Plains, your investment is maximized to the fullest. The wildlife and communities around their camps and lodges are the beneficiaries.

Great Plains Conservation offers incredible properties in Kenya, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. Ranging from the ultra-luxurious to the classic safari camp, there are many options for the safari traveler. In the end though, it all comes down to the safari experience which Great Plains has had years of fine-tuning. It starts with location and the settings of each of their camps are situated in stunningly beautiful and wildlife rich areas. Your days will be spent primarily out in the bush amongst iconic wildlife. Even if you decide to spend the day in camp, the wild residents oftentimes come into camp to pay a visit to their human guests.

Selinda Camp, Selinda Reserve

The three expansive, and uniquely designed, guest suites each feature an indoor en-suite bathroom, a large private veranda with outdoor seating and a swimming pool.

Each suite offers you a professional camera, lens set and high-quality binoculars for their complimentary use. At the end of your safari, all the images taken are downloaded for free to take home as our gift.

Every suite is inspired by what Livingstone would have had, what he would have travelled with, and what he would have found along with his expeditions.

But beyond that, we go back to the Robinson Crusoe feel, including rope textures, suites under thatch, hammocks, lots of space, nautical elements, and salvaged wood.

Zarafa Camp, Selinda Reserve

The camp’s name Zarafa (meaning Beloved One), is a nod to the story of the first giraffe to be taken from Africa to Europe as a gift to King Charles X of France. Zarafa Camp pays homage to the story of this iconic African wildlife species.

Zarafa Camp’s four guest suites individually measure over 100 square meters (1000 square feet) under flowing canvas. Each suite rests on raised reclaimed railway sleeper decking.

The interiors of each of the four, private guest suites consist of a lounge area that flows to a beautiful bedroom and an open layout indoor bathroom complete with gas fireplace, shower and claw-foot copper bath. Hand-crafted Zanzibar doors are central to the guest’s suite designs too.

Expansive, private outdoor decking wraps each guest’s suite and offers guests a private plunge pool, outdoor shower, and outdoor seating.
